Presiding Officers

The Presiding Officers of Model Parliament are dedicated and knowledgeable veteran participants of the event. These individuals are responsible for fulfilling the ceremonious and highly important roles in Parliament. Their duties involve running training sessions for all participants, ensuring the event runs smoothly during the sitting-days in the House of Commons, and ensuring all participants are respecting decorum and proper procedure.

The Speaker of the House of commons

The Speaker is the most senior Presiding Officer of the House of Commons. The Speaker oversees the proceedings of the House of Commons, enforces parliamentary rules and
practices, as well as maintains order and decorum in the House of Commons chamber. In addition to their duties in the House of Commons, the Speaker assists in leading the MPSP training sessions on parliamentary procedure and practice.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons

Upon the absence of the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker assumes all the duties and
responsibilities of the Speaker. The Deputy Speaker assists the Speaker in interpreting
parliamentary rules and practices as well as the House of Commons proceedings. 
In addition to their duties in the House of Commons, The Deputy Speaker assists in leading the MPSP training sessions on parliamentary procedure and practice.

The Clerk of the House of Commons

The Clerk provides non-partisan advice to the Speaker as well as to all Members of the House of Commons on parliamentary rules, practices as well as IPPSSA Model Parliament norms and
presidents. The Clerk manages the party speaking lists and collaborates with all members to ensure the proceedings of the House of Commons run efficiently. 
In addition to their duties in the House of Commons, The Clerk manages the MPSP training sessions on parliamentary procedure and practice.
